Today, Donald Trump has reached the magic number 1,237 to clinch the GOP nomination for president. Many unbound delegates switched over to Trump pushing him to now 1,238 delegates, one more than he needed to clinch the nomination.
Trump will avoid a contested GOP convention in Cleveland in July. Only 303 delegates are left remaining at five state primaries for June 7th.
Unbound delegate and Oklahoma GOP chairperson Pam Pollard, told the AP, "I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn't like where our country is," and "I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump."
AP adds, “millions of grassroots activists, many who have been outsiders to the political process, have embraced Trump as a plain-speaking populist who is not afraid to offend.”
Another unbound delegate, Steve House, chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, cemented his support for Trump and said, “Leadership is leadership.” House likes Trump's background as a strong successful businessman. “If he can surround himself with the political talent, I think he will be fine,” added House.
Channeling voter rage, Trump, aggressively made it known in his campaign speeches across America that he was against the globalist takeover of the U.S. This type of talk skyrocketed Trump into a wildfire candidate. Mix in a populist movement that is sick of open border policies, a staged U.S. economic collapse and nightmare Obamacare and you have yourself a recipe for a populist and nationalist Presidential candidate called Donald Trump.
A side note from the wire service:
he unleashed an uncanny marketing ability in which he deduced his critics’ weak points and distilled those to nicknames that stuck. “Little Marco” Rubio, “Weak” Jeb Bush and “Lyin’ Ted” Cruz, among others, all were forced into primarily reacting to Trump. They fell one-by-one — leaving Trump sole survivor of a riotous Republican primary.
His rallies became must-see events and magnets for free publicity. Onstage, he dispensed populism that drew thousands of supporters, many wearing his trademark “Make America Great Again” hat and chanting, “Build the wall!”
Trump has forever changed the U.S.political landscape and everything about the presidential race. Now being officially labeled the Republican candidate, we will see an interesting campaign battle this fall.
I'm curious if crooked Hillary will be able to handle the wrath of Donald Trump?
