The Daily Star reports that ISIS has threatened to carry out an attack on the popular Eurovision Song Contest slated for Saturday, May 14th in Sweden.
Sweden’s security services are on red alert after it was revealed that eight Islamic State terrorists, one of whom reportedly has close links with IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, have arrived in Stockholm in preparation for the attack (good work, immigration officials!).
The European Song Contest, to be hosted by BBC commentator Graham Norton, will be staged in Stockholm’s huge Globe Arena which holds more than 16,000 people.
Event officials say that security has been increased as a result of the potential threat. Eurovision project manager Jesper Ackinger said, “We are working closely with the police and have regular meetings.”
SAPO, the Swedish security service, declined to go into detail about the terror threat but added, “Information has come our way that we cannot ignore.”
While some Americans may not exactly find the notion of blowing up the legendarily outlandish Eurovision to be a bad idea, the televised contest has been a hugely popular international event for over half a century, making it a very tempting target for violent jihad against the decadent West.
