Melania Trump made a rare appearance in Wisconsin earlier today, giving a brief two-minute speech about the many qualities her husband has, and how fairly he treats everyone regardless of who they are.
After giving Donald Trump a quick hug, she departed the stage, at which time according to media reports, a protester threw an object on the stage which caused Secret Service to rush in from both sides.
A protester hurled an unknown object onto the stage. Secret Service and local police were quick to react.
Donald Trump glared down at the disruption, took a breath, and then merely thanked security for their quick response before continuing with his speech as the supporters loudly booed the protester being taken from the event and then started to chant, “Trump!”
Social media reports later indicated it was a young male who threw what appeared to be an egg at Mrs. Trump.
The DailyMail described the altercation this way:
“…But Melania’s remarks didn’t please everyone in the ornate theater.
A protester – the only one of the night, despite a Bernie Sanders rally taking place just a block away – hurled an unknown object and an insult toward the podium as she walked off, drawing Secret Service agents on stage from the wings on both sides.”
Initial responses to Melania Trump’s appearance has been overwhelmingly positive. Though English is not her first language (she speaks five fluently) she lends an undeniably graceful and poised figure to the campaign stops and has more than few hoping she gets the opportunity to be America’s next First Lady.
